Community CPR Courses: Heartsaver® CPR AED

The Heartsaver® CPR AED course trains participants to give CPR and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) in a safe, timely, and effective manner. This course includes training on adult, child, and infant victims. 
This course is designed for anyone with limited or no medical training. If you need training to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements, please contact your employer to ensure you are selecting the proper course. If you are seeking certification as a medical provider, please see BLS CPR Courses for more information.
Fairport/Perinton residents ONLY: Effective January 1, 2022, a nominal fee of $20.00 is required of all attendees to cover our administrative overhead for issuing course completion eCards. Once your address has been verified, you will be notified of a discount being applied to your balance. Questions regarding this change may be directed via email to cpr@pvac.org.

BLS CPR Courses

The AHA’s BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations, and provide early use of an AED.
The course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of settings, like EMTs, paramedics, and firefighters, as well as in-facility hospital providers, including nurses, physicians, PAs, dentists, and dental hygienists.
Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card valid for two (2) years.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

The AHA’s ACLS course teaches the importance of preventing cardiac arrest, high-performance teams, early and continuous high-quality CPR, systems of care, recognition and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest, post-cardiac arrest care, acute dysrhythmias, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes (ACS).
The course is geared towards healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies or personnel in emergency response.
Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card valid for two (2) years.

Heartsaver® First Aid


The Heartsaver® First Aid course trains participants in first aid basics for the most common emergencies, including how to recognize them, call for help, and perform lifesaving skills. Topics covered during this course include:

• Environmental emergencies
• Preventing illness and injury
