Mike joined Perinton Ambulance in 2020 at the outset of the COVID pandemic. Mike brings a wealth of experience to his position from his experience in volunteer and commercial EMS, rural and urban EMS environments, as well as EMS communications. Mike began his EMS careers as a volunteer EMT when earning his bachelor’s degree from Rochester Institute of Technology. He went on to earn his Paramedic certification and fill a myriad of leadership positions throughout his EMS career.

The Chief is responsible for all aspects of the Operation and reports to the Board of Directors.

Mark has been serving in EMS for over 30 years as an EMT, Paramedic, Supervisor, and Manager including earning and maintaining certification as a Critical Care Paramedic. Mark has served in numerous positions across a range of EMS agencies offering him a well-rounded perspective. Mark shares his wealth of knowledge and experience serving as our Deputy Chief.

Mark wears many hats as the Deputy Chief who is responsible for management and oversight of all field operations, Shift Supervisors, field personnel, medical supplies, and medical equipment. Additionally, the Deputy Chief manages our fleet of ambulances, support vehicles, response trailer, information technology systems in addition to managing our building and grounds.


Kevin Gustina

Clinical Care Manager

As Clinical Care Manager, Kevin is responsible for the care we provide to our patients. He leads our Quality Improvement team, develops quality initiatives, liaises with our agency Medical Director, medical facilities, and other responders, and assists in developing new clinical training for our team.


Melissa Walsh

Training Coordinator

Melissa is a Paramedic who serves as our Training Supervisor. With an upbeat personality and willingness to explore new models for EMS training, she’s always adding new ideas to our training programs. The Training Supervisor is responsible for managing our Field Training Officers, field training program, new hire orientation, continuing medical education programs, and general clinical education and training.


Ian Langton

Ian is a Shift Supervisor/Lieutenant who joined Perinton Ambulance in 2023. After serving in the United States Airforce, Ian discovered a passion for patient care and became involved with EMS. Ian continued his medical education eventually becoming a Paramedic and working at a busy EMS agency before coming to Perinton. Ian brings his military leadership skills to his role as Supervisor.

Tim is also a Shift Supervisor/Lieutenant who serves as our Explorer Post leader for local middle and high school students interested in the EMS field. Tim is full of energy and passion for improving the overall systems of care and moving the EMS industry forward. Tim is very involved at the local and state levels advocating for EMS agencies like Perinton Ambulance.


Josh von Rathonyi

Lieutenant

Josh joined Perinton Ambulance in 2020 as a Shift Supervisor/Lieutenant and Paramedic. After earning his EMT and Paramedic certifications Josh spent time in a busy urban EMS environment where he developed critical thinking skills he enjoys passing along to new staff. Josh has a passion for learning, educating, and providing excellent care to his patients.


Salomon Valdez

Lieutenant

Sal has served as a Shift Supervisor/Lieutenant since 2020. Sal provides leadership and guidance as a senior Paramedic and Field Training Officer with extensive experience in flight paramedicine and other diverse work experiences. Sal also leads our Honor Guard team while exemplifying our values of professionalism, honor, and service.


Kyle DaVia

Kyle is a Shift Supervisor/Lieutenant and Paramedic with an interest and passion for trauma care. His previous experience in rural EMS settings, along with his military background, brings valued perspective to the team. Kyle enjoys sharing his knowledge with newer clinicians to improve patient outcomes.


Jon LeRoy

CPR Program Coordinator

Jon joined Perinton Ambulance in February of 2000 while attending Nazareth College. He has held numerous positions over the years and became a full-time employee in 2021 as an EMT and Administrative Assistant. Over his career, Jon worked for several other EMS agencies in different capacities and brings a passion for communications to the team. 

In the position of Administrative Assistant, Jon focuses on marketing, fundraising, and outreach activities. He also serves as our CPR Program Coordinator and remains an active EMT.

Carol has been the Administrative Assistant for Perinton Ambulance since 2021. Prior to joining Perinton, Carol was an executive assistant, manager, and medical biller. She brings a diverse set of experiences to her role where she coordinates benefits for our staff, manages our finances, and assists with medical billing.


Beth Sardone

Community Outreach Coordinator

Beth started at Perinton Ambulance serving as an EMT and began developing what would eventually become our Community Outreach Programs. Now serving as our Community Outreach Coordinator, and still maintaining her EMT certification, Beth is active in the community checking blood pressures, providing health lectures to seniors and small groups, or installing car seats at our station. Beth represents the importance of our Mission to educate the local community.
